11:00 pm. Earlier today the president of Hong Kong Poly U said he had an agreement with the police that they would let the students leave the campus and that he would personally accompany students to leave and to the police station if they were arrested.
And yet, and yet… if there was an agreement, they are not keeping it. The students are bottled up in campus. One called “Tom” told the BBC that the police were saying they would use live fire on them. Some students are abseiling down ropes to escape onto the highway below.
And the Chinese ambassador in the UK is spouting tough words.
It’s not looking good.
The police are looking bad. Like they’ve been given some marching orders to get tough.
