Feeling conflicted about this. Help! I haven't been told what to think!!
"This" being the story that president Trump kicked Vlodomyr Zelensky out of the White House, after a war of words in the Oval Office.
There are, of course, two immediate, diametrically opposed stories:
The Dems: "Trump embarrassed us. I'm ashamed to be American". Eg..., And...
The Reps: "Trump stood up for us. I'm proud to be American". Eg...
Zelensky needs to worry when even his strongest supporters amongst the GOP, like Lindsay Graham, berate him.
Also, there's much more to the back story, as told by Marco Rubio to Kaitlin Collins at CNN, of all people (I mean, she's a major Trump hater yet gives Rubio plenty of time in this interview). Seems Zelensky has been playing a hot and cold game all along. Rubio is getting stronger by the day. He's a good Secretary of State, imo.
Then there's the thoughtful conservative take, from Victor Davis Hanson, here.
ADDED: I didn't realise until later -- my bad -- that the clips all over the internet, both pro and anti Trump in this stoush with Zelensky, were just the final few minutes of an hour long interview in front of the media. The first 40 minutes were perfectly cordial, although it's clear that Zelenskiy is not fully on board with a ceasefire, and that he's pushing the US beyond what is in the written and agreed terms in the Ceasefire Agreement that he's come across to sign. Or not.
It only gets tetchy at the end, when it's clear from his body language that he likes nothing at all about the idea the president Trump positions himself in the middle, for neither party, but for Peace. See this analysis of the body language.
