Ticket giveaways gets hammered — latest Covid nonsense

South China Morning Post. More Letters
The government plans to give away 500,000 (!) airline tickets to lure visitors here to Hong Kong. Residents hammer the idea, above. There are better things we could do with the money. Like I said the other day: use it as incentive to the old folks who remain unvaxxed but at highest risk. Doing that would be better for us all, reduce deaths, and cost less.

I’ve had positive reactions to my letter from some on the mainland, expats and local Chinese. Like “spot on” and “it’s what everyone in China wants coz we are fed up with the Zero Covid policy”. Shi Jiangtao says the same today (below). But front page SCMP today is (1) how we in HK won’t relax quickly and (2) how China won’t relax at all

There we have it. The forever Covid.

We must notice Long Covid. But what to do about it? I don’t know. I’m not sure anyone does. But can it be right to keep shutting everyone down because of it? As we see many medical and epidemiology types calling for on Twitter?

ADDED: Our ten-member Vaccine Expert Group is divided on whether to buy the new Pfizer vax which is Omicron-specific. If they are divided, how can we Joe publics be expected to make informed choices? Still, I’ve booked a fourth shot.

BTW: I wonder, what will 500,000 airline tickets cost? $US 500,000,000 at least? $HK 4 billion? Crazy.
