Zion Lights in Oz — promoting nuclear power

Zion Lights (yes, it’s her name) founded Extinction Rebellion the radical eco-activist folks who glue themselves to the motorway, to protest fossil fuels. (And their offshoot, Just Stop Oil, who just vandalised a Van Gogh in the National Gallery).

Zion Lights got tired of protesting “everything is bad and getting worse”. She thought we needed a message of what to do. And that’s nuclear energy. So she’s been in Oz talking up nuclear.

Good on her! I’ve long thought Australia should have — should have had — nuclear power stations. Our model should have been Sweden, which produces half its energy from nuclear. Instead we followed the New Zealand model — “Nuclear free”. Pushed by our Aussie Greens. Always with the best of intentions, mind! (The road to hell…).

More shameful for Australia is that we have massive deposits of uranium. Which were happy to sell to others. Just not to use ourselves. So, it’s safe when others use it but not when we do? How does that make sense? Only hypocrisy explains it.
