This is kind of sad and at the same time emblematic of the poisonous relationships between the public, opposition lawmakers and the police.
Politician Kwok claims the police are stockpiling masks. Challenged, he says he’s just “quoting the media”. The media has nothing (that I can see). The police indignantly respond. Kwok criticises the police for responding. Police cannot win.
I’m going with the police version on this one. There is no evidence -- at least in the media reports I’ve seen -- that the police are stockpiling masks at the expense of frontline hospital workers.
Police say they have just enough masks to last one week.
Kwok calls them “black police” and “cowards”.
I can see which side the vitriolic hatred lies on this one.
