“Why the Durham Report Matters to Democracy” | WSJ

Click above for the Report
Durham Report TL;DR:

Trump 2016: "The Deep State is out to get me!"

Dems 2016-2023: "Crazy conspiracy theory!"

Durham 2023: "The FBI, DNC, Obama, Hillary, DOJ, AG, CNN, MSNBC were out to get Trump".  (Via concocted Russia Collusion Hoax)

CNN: "Durham didn't mention "Deep State". So obviously there's nothing to it."

Another spin in the laundromat: 1. It's conspiratorial nonsense. 2. Ok, it exists, but it's no big deal. 3. Ok it exists but it's old news. 4. Well, it used to exist, but we've fixed it (FBI).

Unsurprisingly the Damning Dunham Dossier is being comprehensively ignored on the left. It'll sink with no trace. No one punished. For what has been a massive hoax. Immensely damaging to trust and the body politic. (ADDED: and as Saagar says on Breaking Points, arguably influenced the way we’ve treated the Russia-Ukraine war. That impactful. Krystal, just before the above, and herself a lifelong Democrat, speaks to the fact that many people who follow only CNN or MSNBC, won’t know any of this, till just now)

It was a case of what I'm calling the "Sam Harris dead babies in the basement" formula: that Trump was and is such an existential threat to democracy that any non-democratic means is allowed to stop him. (Sam speaking to the Triggernometry lads: "I wouldn't care if Hunter Biden had the corpses of children in his basement; I didn’t care.…” Trump was such a threat that anything to stop him was valid. Here).

Oh dear…
