Alaska Trip Day 9: Salt Lake City → Brigham City

Weather today in Brigham City: 19-30 C and sunny. Perfect.
TBF, surprised it’s so warm
[Remember: this is just a Virtual Virus Vacation. It’s what I had booked before had to cancel coz Covid-19].

I put Spiral Jetty on the itinerary, having read about it in “White Sands” by Geoff Dyer. It’s a quirky piece of art on the dry bed of the Great Salt Lake, considered to be the most important work by sculptor Robert Smithson. He made it in 1970 and documented it in a 32-minute video [excerpts]. I believe you can walk along it. It’s a there and back in the same day kind of place as there’s no accommodation. We’d be staying at Brigham City, named for the famous early Mormon, Brigham Young, the founder of Salt Lake City.
