Jennifer Sey speaks with Vivek Ramaswami. (I first Briefly Noted Jennifer on masks and science)
Jennifer was in line to be the Chief Executive of Levi Strauss, with its seven figure salary and perks, when she ran up against The Blob. There was a narrative and she was not allowed to speak against it.
Specifically, she has three children, who she sends to public schools in San Francisco (unlike her colleagues who all send their kids to private schools). She did that because she was, as she self describes, an Elizabeth Warren leftie. When Covid struck and schools were closed, she questioned the closures.
Key point: the only schools that were closed were the public schools. The private schools that her colleagues sent their kids to, all remained open.
But the state had mandated. The CDC had mandated. The Teachers Union had demanded. Public schools shall be shut. Jennifer knew the dangers of Covid were skewed to the elderly, but that was overlooked or denied. She was told not to object. By colleagues who were sending their kids to private schools that were still open! In the end she left Levi, and her high paying career. Now she speaks out about it.
I’ve seen her elsewhere mention that everyone was on board for keeping schools open until Trump said keep schools open, at which point everyone then said, well if Trump says keep them open, we must close them! Such was the hatred of Trump.
