A reasonable aim for post-war Gaza (but too late?..)

I was about to post this days ago, when it would have still been relevant.

Then comes the news that Biden has had an angry talk with Netanyahu gives him a dressing down, and basically Israel is leaving Gaza.

That might make the legions of Hamas-luvvies around the world happy, but it means Israel losing the war and the HamaNazis winning the war. Things will get worse.

The three aims Israel had after October 7th, were: (1) to defeat Hamas (2) to bring the hostages back and (3) to ensure that there was never again the same threat to Israel.

All of those aims are now lost.

Bret Stephens who writes for the New York Times has a proposal he’s been banging on about for some time: after driving out Hamas from Gaza, to turn it over to a pan-Arab mandate over the territories. And to keep them there until a generation has been brought up under more moderate leadership.

Stephens  notes something rarely admitted by the Hamas-luvvies: that the the surrounding Sunni states all want Israel to destroy Hamas. That includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf States. They may not admit it publicly, but we know that’s what they want. Hamas is too radical, too terrorist-y for them. Why has not such an idea been floated and pushed by the United States?

Others commenting on this in the talk above are: Niall Ferguson, John Cochrane and General H.R. McMaster. They liked the idea; as do I.  Much better than the cloud-cuckoo land ideas of “One secular, peaceful, multi-religious, multi-ethnic state of Palestine, from the River to the Sea". Dream on. A ludicrous fantasy; prancing unicorns.

Why would we expect in such a unitary Palestinian state anything different from what’s happened in the region? That is Jews slaughtered or driven out, because what they want, what Hamas, presumably the governing power in this fantasy, want the world to be Judenrein.

All that is moot now. Bibi has caved to Biden and given up. He denies it, but that’s the result. I hope I’m wrong, but likely not.

Hamas will be resurgent. Israel is weakened by this. If it falls, if Hamas and the PA, and Hezbollah attack and take over, “from the River to the Sea”, the will be a second Holocaust, this time at least the number of the Nazis. And then there will be a spread of Sharia Law in the land, and then the spread of Islam, radical Islam, Hamas Jihadist Islam, to the rest of the region and to Europe. That is what they state as their aim, and we need to believe them. Look what they’ve done already. Convinced the world that theirs is the just cause, when they are a murderous, genocidal, apartheid state.

If there was ever a case of being careful what you wish for, this is it.

This is a disgusting outcome. Albeit the luvvies have a “ceasefire”. Where is there even talk of the hostages any more?

ADDED: Benny Gantz, who is in the Israeli War Cabinet, apparently said, when the attacks on Rafah was still being considered, that “you don’t put to 80% of a houefire and hope that the remaining 20% won’t burn the rest of the house down”. Well, that’s what they’re doing now. While still more than 20% of Hamas battalions remain in Rafah. All because Biden had to kneel to the Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib Hamas-wing of the Democratic party, up there in Dearborn Michigan, and its concentration of Muslim voters, and where just yesterday they were calling for “Death to America”.

This appeasement can’t turn out well.
