As in Britain and France it's more to do with domestic politics than international affairs. They have to placate the now substantial Muslim vote. That they welcomed into their borders. Who hate the values of their host counties and whose ideology aims to destroy all Dar-al-Harb the world's non-Muslim lands.
The Palestinians already have a state. It's called Jordan.
