There are deranged loonies out there, who believe the "Republicans are Nazis" nonsense. And think along the lines of "If I'd killed actual Hitler I'd have been a hero. So if I kill today's Hitler, I'll be today's Hero". Maybe the thinking of the Charlie murderer. Thinks he's doing well for his leftist cohort. Or, anyway, removing a threat.
