They could have let it go. But no, they had to criticise the NBA guy who said “Support Freedom, Stand Hong Kong”. And bingo, now everyone knows about it, not just NBA fans.
And then they ban South Park. Because they make fun of censorship. Really, China? Really?
And NBA: apology to China? Really? Shame on you! Live without China. Go on, you can do it.
ADDED: Jason Whitlock “Speak for Yourself” podcast and basketball expert says the NBA thing is all about the shoe companies: Nike, Adidas, etc are driving the NBA, to get into the China market.
And, btw, we here do “Stand for Hong Kong”. But that doesn’t mean standing for the vandals that are trashing Hong Kong. And we do “stand for Freedom” which is why we want to maintain the freedoms we have. The Seven Freedoms.
The background clip while Whitlock was speaking, was black bloc protesters bashing the crap out of some bystanders, but it came across to the casual viewer as if it was a fight between brave Hongkongers and nazi Beijing. The way presented was, in two words, Fake News.
By the way: we do support Freedom. And we do stand for Hong Kong. We live here after all. But we not think violence is the way to support freedom and stand for Hong Kong.
