“Trump needs to fix relations with Canada, and quickly”

Victor Davis Hanson has been a long time supporter of Donald Trump. Before the 2016 win, he wrote a book “The Case for Trump” when it was not at all cool to be a Trump supporter, especially in the groves of academe he treads.

So this is serious. I also thought it rather odd that Trump was trolling Canada so hard. The Fentanyl thing I didn’t know. I assumed it must be about as much as through Mexico. But, according to VDS, it’s only about 2% of Mexico’s, and I’ll assume that figure is correct.  Then there’s a $50 billion trade deficit with the U.S., which is kind of nothing. In any case, one thing I remember from economics 101, is that you can’t have a surplus with every country. 

Most seriously, Trump’s aggro to Canada is making it harder for the Canadian Conservative candidate to win the forthcoming elections.  

The same might happen in Oz, heaven help us. 

So, yeah, Big Don, do pay attention to one of your longest, strongest, most incisive, most cogent supporters when he says — quickly steer away from turning Canada into a “frenemy”!
