‘Mandatory testing of Hong Kong’s high-risk groups key to eliminating coronavirus’ | SCMP

My comment at the site, re today's Editorial:
You say "Despite 105 deaths and 5,169 infections since the coronavirus emerged in the city in January, there would still appear to be a lack of awareness of how dangerous the disease is." And you urge not just testing, but ever more stringent lockdown measures. ("Loopholes have to be closed")

I would say "BECAUSE 105 deaths … people have a sense of proportion about Covid". Pneumonia, a similar disease -- also mainly of the elderly -- has a death rate *100 times* greater than Covid, but we don't shut down our city because of it.

The WHO are not in favour of lockdowns or of the "virus elimination" strategy. Aren't we supposed to be following the WHO advice?

When did this paper and our government decide on the ruinous "zero Covid" strategy without telling us?
