Have a look at these pictures. First up, the Sekdoorn floating solar farm, Holland. It produces 13.3 MWh of power from an installed capacity of 16.6 KW, and takes up 1,540 sq. m.
Next we have the Daya Nuclear Power station, just up the road from us here in Hong Kong (around 60km by road) and which provides us with our carbon-free electricity. It has a capacity of almost 2 GW (ie. 2,000 MW or 2,000,000 KW). It takes up 2.6 Sq Km.
So, doing some figures.
Number of Sekdoorns to made one Daya = 2,000,000/16.6 = 120,400 (rounded down).
Area needed = 120,400 x 1,540 = 185,540,000 sq m. (rounded down) = 185 sq. km.
