So, let’s see what the stats are for Canada. Above is my chart, from a spreadsheet here, with stats from Statistics Canada and Worldometer.
The red bar is the deaths registered as being from Covid-19 (though there remains the issue of whether it’s death “from” Covid or “with” Covid, given the high number (>90%) that die with Covid and another disease. IOW, very few people die with Covid alone).
The orange bars are those that I mark as being causes of death which could be influenced somehow by NPI, or Non-Pharmaaceutical Interventions, the unlovely acronym for all the measures we’ve taken that are not medicine: in short, Lockdowns.
So for the deaths from Flu (which includes pneumonia), we could be taking the same lockdown measures as we have been to battle the SARS Cov-2 virus. For death from accidents, presumably mostly vehicle related, we could be reducing speed limits, limiting the number of cars.... And so on.
Note the deaths from these causes -- all of which could be reduced by NPIs such as we’re doing for Covid -- are nearly five times higher that deaths from Covid. And they happen every year!
My obvious point is: we don’t panic because of these avoidable deaths every year. So why do we go full on mental, full on panic, with Covid?
And that was a Canadian doctor, telling us we should mask during sex. People do mask during sex, of course. But not to avoid a virus....
