This graph says it all

Notice a similarity? UK and Sweden daily deaths per million

So if, as I showed yesterday for Hong Kong, infection rates don’t correlate with lockdown measures, how come the drop in infection rates? Answer, I guess: it’s the natural progression of the virus.

Sweden didn’t institute lockdown but the UK did, severely. Look at deaths per million. You don’t have to be a an epidemiologist or statistician to see they’re pretty much in lockstep. Sweden didn’t implement  lockdown — schools, pubs, restaurants, public gatherings all comtinued unchecked — but they did promote distancing, hand sanitation and masks. Not mandatory, recommended.

And it seems that have come out pretty much exactly the same as the shilly-shallying, but generally severe lockdown UK.

And ditto here in Hong Kong.  It’s sanitation, distancing and masking wot dunnit. And the natural cycle of the virus.

We eased some lockdown measures yesterday, but not all. With no rhyme nor reason I can see. And certainly not “following the science” in keeping pools, beaches, parks and other outdoor places closed. Studies show it’s an indoor disease. But…

…bars and pubs, bathhouses, party rooms, clubs and nightclubs, karaoke premises, swimming pools and beaches remain closed. [Link]
