I believe Hamas are evil. They kill and maim Israelis, Jews preferably. They also kill and brutalise their own people. 

Gaza could have been beautiful and rich. It was Hamas, and the people that voted for them, who turned Gaza into the tunnel-riddled charnel house it is today. Who use their own people as shields. Then blame the sword. It doesn’t wash.

Which is why no Arab state wants them. Not Egypt. Not Jordan. Not Syria. Not Lebanon. Nor even their patron death-cultists, the IRGC in Iran. Nobody in the Arab world wants them. Because as soon as they are in a new country they cause mayhem and butchery. No one wants that. Not even a majority Palestinian country like Jordan. Only in the west do we want them. At least a loony lot of us appear to want to invite them into our society. Including, incredibly, many in the LGBTQ community.

I have believed Hamas are evil since I first studied them in 2005. I saw that they followed the ideology of the Nazis. They made nazism even worse. They fused a millenarian, supremacist, misogynist, homophobic ideology to it. They throw in a Sky God who will drown you in virgin beauties if you die in pursuit of “killing Jews wherever you find them” (per the Hamas Charter). Killing Jews and Christians. And atheists like me, too.

Read the Koran. It’s all there. Read the Hamas Charter. This is its foundational and guiding document. Then read the Israel Declaration of Independence. I point out the clear differences in motivation. 

Prove me wrong.

Disclaimer: I don’t buy Martin’s “Trump as a 4-D chess player” narrative. I wish it were true. But I doubt it.

Some of you are telling me the Gaza deal can't last. You're not seeing the whole board.

There are two default assumptions at work here. 

The first is that Islamist radicals can just spontaneously produce missiles, guns, and money from thin air. They can't. 

The second is just general black pilling, which is frankly stupid. So you're demoralized: big whoop. You'd have been more demoralized in the summer of 1940, or for that matter of 1942. And you'd have been just as wrong. Get over yourself. Look at the facts.

Andrew Gold talks to Dave Rubin in Hungary. I've followed Andrew for many years. He's sound; a good analyst.

When I started this blog, 17 years ago, I did a spreadsheet predicting the Islamisation of various countries of Europe. I thought the Scandinavian countries would be first, then Germany and France, then the U.K. And my guess was around the 2050s and 60s. 

It's happening now, much quicker than I thought. Much quicker than anyone thought. It's happening right in front of our eyes. There's even talk of civil war. 

When Andrew says "I don't know why people didn't see what happened in the Middle East" he's referring to is the Islamic conquests of all those countries. 

The Middle East is a lesson. No one learned it. 

Except that now a civil war may be imminent in Britain then Europe. Could it be? Or will it just be the crapification of Europe, as happened in all the Islamified countries of the Middle East? Not a one of which was made better by their submission to Allah. 

Those Islamic conquests across the Middle East are being replicated in Europe and the U.K.. When the Islamisation is complete, it's the whole Sharia law bit*. Women oppressed and in burkas, minorities oppressed, gays arrested or executed, churches and synagogues closed down, Jews and Christians, and even atheists, like me, driven out. 

Grim. Authoritarian. Theocratic. Anti-science. Anti-modernity. Anti-fun. 

ADDED: We here in Hong Kong are just fine on that front. We're not about to be Islamified. Our government won't put up with any nonsense on that front, giving in to Muslim demands to "respect Ramadan", or to "ban dogs". No way. And that's a comfort to me in my dotage. To know that we're safe from the ravages of rampant Islam.

I'm such a bigot. 

I'm so bigoted that I don't agree with any of the beliefs set out in Islamic Sharia law.

My bigotry about Women:

I'm such a bigot that I care about women. I don't think they should be oppressed. I don't think they should be second class citizens. I think women should have equal rights as men. 

I'm so bigoted that I think women are treated badly in Islam; they are valued less than a man, their husbands may beat them if they are "disobedient", they must be veiled, they can't go out except with a male escort, all as Sharia demands.

I'm so bigoted that I hate that. 

My bigotry about Homoseduality:

I'm such a bigot that I care about gays and the LGBT community. I don't think they should be bashed (as they are right now in Australia). I don't think they should be discriminated against. I think they should be treated just like everyone else. 

Goodness me, I'm such a bigot that I even think gays should not be lynched, or thrown off tall buildings, or hanged on cranes in the town square. That's just how much of a bigot I am! Basically, I'm such a bigot I don't hold with all the suppression and oppression of gay people in Islam, as Sharia demands. 

My bigotry about Adultery:

I'm such a bigot I think adulterers should NOT be killed. Shunned for a while perhaps. Given a chilly shoulder for a time. But not killed. That's how much of a bigot about that I am. (also mea culpa on this one...). 

I don't agree with Islamic Sharia law that "fornicators must be stoned to death", or that "there is no penalty for killing an adulterer". No, I simply do not agree with these or any other of the Sharia laws on adultery, as Sharia demands. Bigot!

My bigotry about Apostasy: 

I'm such a bigot that I think if you decide you want to leave a religion, no matter which one, you should be able to do so. I don't think you should be killed if you leave a religion. What a bigot I am. I'm such a bigot that I'm offended by Islam law which requires apostates killed, as Sharia demands.

My bigotry about treatment of non-Muslims:

I'm so bigoted that I believe people should be free to believe whatever they like, or to believe in no God, as I do. I'm such a bigot, I'm an atheist. I recognise many people believe in a god. I'm such a bigot I don't believe, as Muslims do, that non-Muslims must be reviled, distained, shunned or killed.  That's how bigoted I am. I don't go along with the Sharia demands on this one.

We who believe as I do are labelled bigots. I've now made my "self-criticism". You can see just how bigoted I am. Perhaps I can be cured of my bigotry. Which would mean agreeing with Sharia law. It would mean believing that the Muslim immigration invasion into our western countries is an unalloyed good. That it only adds to the wonderful tapestry of diversity.

The Left always hated on Dinesh D’Souza. And so, in my past days, I’d kind of ignore him too. In recent years I’ve listened to him more. I find him clearly and knowledgeably spoken. I rarely disagree with his takes. And certainly do not in the above video, that I’m 100% on board with.

The downfall of the theocrats in Iran, the hardline Mullahs and Ayatollahs is good, first and foremost, for the people of Iran, who yearn for freedom. Good for the West and good for the Middle East. Good for peace on earth. Good for goodness vs evil. Good for women and minorities. Good for Free Speech.  Good for the LGBTQ community …even as they’re in cahoots with the Mullahs in the Red-Green alliance. Good for the Middle East. Good for anti-Qatar hypocrisy. Good for Sunni Arab states that are keen to make up with the local superpower, Israel, but don’t want to do so openly, while Iran is there supporting terrorist proxies in the region. Good for all of that. 

In short: the downfall of the Iranian Mullahs would be … Good!

Georgia Meloni, PM of Italy, draws the line. We are Europe -- she says -- and we have our values. If you want to come here, you must adhere to those values, not those of your medieval ideology. 

Is it fair? You bet! And long overdue. Just look at Iran. Why are the people there uprising? Because they hate the ideology that they've been oppressed by since 1979. Where ex-Muslims are revolting, as Harris Sultan shows. Just the latest of 8 uprisings. Where over 12,000 have already been slaughtered by the regime. 

I do hope Trump does a Venezuela on it. (even though, as I write, he's toning down his tough talk. Don't go soft on us now, Donald!).

Italy -- Georgia Meloni -- is just trying NOT to be the next Iran. Trying NOT to be swallowed by fascistic Islamic ideology. 

Islam is most clearly a wicked ideology. 

It is an idology that is supremacist, homophobic, misogynist, racist, anti free speech, anti non-Muslims. Also: anti-drink, anti-music, anti-dance, anti-films, anti-women's hair. Pretty much anti everything that makes life worth living. (and that does include women's hair...).

You could argue people who adhere to this ideology should not even be allowed into our western countries. Or allowed into liberal Asia: Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea. I would argue that. I would happily take that side of a debate. 

But if you can't bring yourself to that level of discrimination, then at the very least we must follow the lead of cara Georgia. To say to these guests in our countries: 

"Very well, if you insist on moving to our countries, we expect that you follow our de-minimis demands. Do not insist on your own public oppressions. Oppressions of your women and ours. Oppressions of our rights to enjoy drink and music. Do not insist that your women dress in bags and cover their faces. Do not insist that we close our pubs. Do not insist that we follow Halal dietary cruelty. Do not insist we follow your Ramadan fasts. Do not insist that areas you've colonized are no-go 'Sharia Zones'.

"We're done. We will not stand for it."

Imagine. Italy being Roman! If you had to choose between living under the Roman Empire of the Islamic Caliphate, which would you choose? For me it's easy. It's Rome every time. Rome, aka the West, wins every time. 

It's too much to expect that what Georgia Meloni is doing will win out against the European Blob. The Blog of Angela von der Leyen. Or the Blobs of Macron and Merz. Or the Blob of Keir der Sturmer's Islamic Britain. Which are in thrall to the idea that the west is Bad and Islam is Good. Who are even more in thrall to the idea that the dollars flowing from Islamic regimes to the west are wery wery welcome. 

But still one can hope. It's Georgia, cara Georgia, who's given us that hope.

I thought Iran was majority Shia Muslim. Turns out that it's majority "Atheist, Agnostic or None", a total of 37%. That's the plurality, vs Shia Muslim at just 32%. The ancient traditional Persian religion of Zoroastrianism still has 7%, more than I'd've thought. (If you'd've asked me).

IMO: it's not an issue with "radical" Islam. It's a problem with Islam. Its core texts are the Koran, the Hadith and the Sirah, life of Muhammad. In all of these the enemy is all non-Muslims. The aim of all Muslims -- according to these foundational texts -- is to fight against all non-Muslims. To carry out Jihad against them.

To me that means the problem is ISLAM. Nor radical Islam. But Islam. 

By all polls large chunks of the Islamic community believe all the stuff in the core texts. They believe in the supremacy of Islam over all other religions; they are homophobic; they are misogynist; they are racist. And they do not believe in free speech. All of that in their core texts. The Trinity of Islam.

I have seen evidence of the modest sea level rises via readings of global tide gauges that all major ports have. 

I remember reading decades ago, in the Sydney Morning Herald of all places (not at all a right-wing climate denying outfit), that the sea levels at that time had hardly shifted. That was before the days when an outfit like the Herald was not allowed to say such narrative-denying stuff. Still: with what we know from tide gauges, the sea level is rising, but not at an alarming rate. We can certainly handle one foot rise, or more or less, over a century. 

Gun Nutters on the Left

Clementine Ford is an Australian "influencer". Yuck! To the whole concept of “influencers”. (But then, I’m just a cranky old man who still blogs, for heavens sake).

And, Super Yuck for C. Ford’s vile views, her absent morality, her gloating over a violent death, her gleefulness at Charlie Kirk's murder. However many ad hominems I find for this piece of shite, they’re not enough. And that’s coming from a person (me) who hates ad hominem.

C. Ford says, with a smirk: "Why feel sorry for him? Charlie died doing what he loved: defending guns".

Well, NO. He did not.

On two counts: 

First, when he was shot in the neck by an extremist Leftie -- who could not abide Charlie simply debating --  at that very moment, the issue being discussed was transgender rights, not gun rights. 

In the tiniest tinge of silver lining, the guy debating Charlie at that exact moment was so profoundly shocked by that bullet in the neck, that he has since denounced his now former cult-mates, gone in hard against the gleeful hordes of monsters yipping it up for the death of a man who simply wanted to talk and debate. A man who said repeatedly: "When debate ends, that's when violence begins". Oh, sad prescience. 

Second, Charlie was killed by a mad Leftie who used a hunting rifle, the Mauser Model 98 (.30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle). A rifle that’s been around since 1897…

Me, I've never owned and will never own a gun. I'm bemused by American gun laws. I live in Hong Kong where guns are strictly controlled. Guns are also strictly controlled in the Anglosphere, in Britain, in Canada, in Australia, in New Zealand. They're strictly controlled everywhere in Europe and Asia. But... in none of these places are hunting rifles like the Mauser banned. To repeat: in not a single one of these strict gun-law countries are hunting rifles banned. Neither are they banned in a single U.S. state, not even the ones with  strong gun laws. 

So what's the point of moaning about "gun control", when the issue is irrelevant to the Charlie case. A mad Leftie can always get hold of a hunting rifle. (Just as a deranged racist on a Charlotte tram can always get hold of a knife). 

Of course the gun issue is handy for the Left. It allows diversion. As in:

... if a killing is done by a Right-winger, the story in the media is: Far Right, white supremacists, extremist MAGA are responsible. It’s the Republicans! 

But then... 

... if a killing is done by Left-winger the story in the media is: this could have been avoided with stricter gun-control laws, which the Republicans block. So, again, it's the Republicans!

In truth we should not expect any sense from a ning-nong who goes on Facebook with a farrago of immature flim-flammery like this: 

The cut-off bit at the end (as if we care what this imbecile thinks) is: "... and I think everyone should be gay".  That's how C. Ford's deep and meaningful FB post ends. That was posted, by the way, after her vomitous unloading of bile on how delighted she is that Charlie Kirk was murdered. Then on FB to say how kind and caring and peace-loving she is. Hypocrite, hypocrite, hypocrite. 

Note, by the way, C. Ford’s "... I love being a single mother". This relates back to my post yesterday about Traditional Family vs Feminist Push. Ford would happily — gleefully even — kill Charlie for his views on the Traditional Family, I’ve no doubt. If we think otherwise we're "losers" says C. Ford. Got that? You’re “losers” if you don’t believe in assassinating people you don’t agree with. 

What a shocking place we're in, when "influencers" across the world, openly -- proudly even -- say that it's just fine to massacre, to murder, to assassinate people for views you don't like. Think on that. Think on it. 

Is it too late to fix?  Perhaps. 

I can't believe that idiots like Clementine Ford will be influenced by anyone not on her side, people like me calling her out. She just mocks them, us, as "losers". This must be called out by her side. By the Left. By Left leaders. Who, in America, are doing the opposite. We had Nancy Pelosi, for example, when she was Speaker of the House, the most senior Democrat in the Congress, calling for "uprisings" across America. Because they lost an election. I mean... c'mon! Do better.

Does posting this stanza drag me down to darling Clementine's level? Is it too much? I mean only "lost and gone" from the "influencer" space. But is that how it starts? Then the slippery slope and soon you're cheering the murder of husbands and fathers? 

Wikipedia has C. Ford's Occupation as "feminist". Imagine that! One can be a feminist as an actual "occupation". Weird. This feminist who cheers the murder of a husband and father to a young girl. Some shit influence, right there. None of it, by the way, condemned by anyone on the Left or in the Democratic Party. Not a one. 

ADDED: another horrid Australian "influencer" Abby Chatfield calls on Americans to kill Republicans. As in, all Republicans. Kill them! She says straight to camera. 

If called out on their murderous euphoria, Democrats resort to the "it happens on both-sides" schtick. No, it doesn't. It's not two sides. It's one side. It's the Democrats directly enabling murderous mayhem on their very own Far Left fringe. And only they can fix it. Who will stand up and say it? 

Barack? I doubt it. Wifie Michelle? She of the "when they go low, we go high" fantasy? Surely not. Not Kamala either. She answered Anderson Cooper, who asked "Do you think Donald Trump is a fascist?" with "Yes, I do. Yes, he is a fascist". And what do you do with fascists? You kill them. So, no, not Kamala either. 

Who then? Who calls this out? If it's no one, we're in deep shite.

The late, great comic Norm Macdonald, making fun of, mocking in fact, people who are are concerned more with alleged or feared "Islamophobia" in the wake of a Muslim terrorist attack, than they are for the victims themselves. 

We see that now with the Minnesota school shooting by a Trans Woman. That is to say, a man who believes he is a woman. He murdered two innocent ten year old school children in the midst of their prayers. He wounded nearly twenty others. The fact that he's trans is relevant, for it's part of who he is. It played a part in his "thinking",  such as it is, that he wrote down in a garbled manifesto. 

But the worry, the deep worry, the concern of the Mayor of Minneapolis and of the media was not for the lost lives of these young children and for their families. The concern was for the trans man, and worry that he might be "tarred with a bigoted brush". And thus fearsome attacks on all who dared to mention the fact that he's trans. Shaming them as "pointing fingers". And the mayor, Jacob Frey, says; "I worry about the trans kids". Huh! Not about the murdered children and their families. About the trans kids. 

This is both stupid and revolting. 

Stupid for the fact that it doesn't help us understand his motives. And revolting for their abandonment of murdered children and their grieving families. They even attacked that fact that they were praying. "What good did it do them?" they mocked. Shocking. Even to an atheist like me. 

If it's not Islamophobia trumping people killed by Islamic terror, then it's Transphobia trumping the murder of children. I've got Phobia-phobia. I'm sick to death of these made-up "phobias" that are made up to stop any criticism, made to stop even any informed analysis of why "some people do some things", to misquote the forever aggrieved Muslim member of Congress Ilhan Omar.

Let’s not FREE PALESTINE! 7 good reasons why we shouldn’t free Palestine

This by Oren Cahanovitc is also my reasons for why I couldn't have attended last week's huge rally in Sydney -- the pro-Palestine rally -- that took over the Harbour Bridge. 

For which I'd been told: "you have to get with the program. Look at all the people that are siding with the Palestinians now and against the genocide in Gaza".... Well, yeah, but nah. 

There are just too many reasons for NOT supporting the demo. A lot of people taking part doesn't make it right. Millions of volk at the 1930s rallies in Germany didn't make them right. Even more millions at Red Guard rallies in China in the 1960s didn't make them right either. 

Here goes with some of my reasons I couldn't support the Sunday Bridge Rally... to "Free Palestine":

I support women's rights. The Sunday Marchers, the "Free Palestine" mob, the Bridge Bigots, do not support women's rights. They support an outfit -- Hamas -- that very much does not support women's rights. That treats women as worth half a man; that demands women in public be accompanied by a man; that says a man may -- indeed must - beat a woman if she disobeys him. 

I support LGBTQ rights. The Sunday Marchers, the "Free Palestine" mob, the Bridge Bigots, do not support LGBTQ rights. They support an outfit -- Hamas -- that very much does not support LGBT rights. Hamas loathe gays. They hang them from cranes in the public square. They throw them off roofs. The number of openly gay people in Gaza = Zero. 

I support not killing people who don't believe as you do. The Sunday Marchers, the "Free Palestine" mob, the Bridge Bigots, do not support being tolerant to those who do not think the same as they. In this case, who do not think the same as Hamas. The Charter of Hamas specifically calls for the world to be under the control of Islam. And these folks, these Bridge Bozos, marching "for humanity" are in fact marching for the killing of non-believers. 

I support not starving hostages to death. The Sunday Marchers, the "Free Palestine" mob, the Bridge Bigots, do not support this. The verified authentic video of a skeletal Israeli hostage being forced to dig his own grave is not only a war crime it is the worst of humanity. But that's what the marchers are marching in support of. 

"But What about the starving children?" they cry. Indeed what about the starving children. Of which we have seen hoax photos, since revealed to be hoaxes by none other than the New York Times, splashed across western media without any verification at all. To the extent that we know the truth of what's going on in Gaza, there is hunger, but it's brought about by Hamas. Even the othersise complicit United Nations admits this. Yet the Bridge Bigots are marching in support of this hoaxing of the public. 

I support the Jews. The Sunday Marchers, the "Free Palestine" mob, the Bridge Bigots, do not support Jews. Way, way not.  They support an outfit -- Hamas -- whose Charter calls for the massacre, the murder, the genocide of Jews everywhere.

They support an outfit -- Hamas -- that wants to obliterate Israel. Hamas don't want a Two State Solution --  they've said openly many times. They support One State, Palestine -- "Free Palestine" -- with no Jews, Free of Jews, Judenrein. The very same vision as the German man with the little moustache. Hamas are Nazis, plain and simple. And literally. Where I mean "literally" literally. In fact, one could easily argue they are worse, because of the religious element to their beliefs. Their "perfect man", Muhammad, told them that they must forever hate the Jews and seek to annihilate them. That's all they're up to now. The Bridge Bigots go along with that. 

Given all this, I really do wonder how I'm the one, apparently, who's in the minority. I'm the one who's expected to "get with the program", and to support the Bridge Bigots, because that's the clear trend. 

I say NO. I will not do it. Even if I lose every friend and relative in my life. I will not side with genocidal, homophobic, misogynist, Jew-hating nazis. End of. For me.

Great news. That was rather unexpected. For me anyway, who feared the Australian Supreme Court case would go against Sall. [Added: it's an Appeals Court decision, not (yet) a Supreme Court one).

This is a long story that's been going on for 3.5 years. Worth clicking above and reading Sall Grover's account. 

I've followed Sall for all that time and at all her podcast and tv appearances, lobbying her case. She's been brilliant. Clear, focussed, full of grit and determination.

Iranians rising up against Islamic tyranny | Lily Moo and the Quad

I travelled in Iran back in 1975. When it was still ruled by the Shah, the Pahlavi dynasty. We drove a clapped-out Ford Anglia down the centre of this beautiful country to Isfahan, to visit our Aussie friends who were there teaching English. They introduced us to many of their friends and students. A happy, friendly, welcoming bunch.

And then, in 1979, I remember watching in fascination when the Shah was overthrown and the Ayatollah Khomeini returned from Parisian exile to rapturous crowds in Tehran. I was fascinated but not horrified. I knew not enough of the horrors of theocratic Islamists to be horrified. I’ve learned that since.

The Khomeinists, the Islamists, were supported by the Iranian Left. The same Red-Green alliance we have today in the demos for Hamas. The “free, free Palestine from the River to the Sea” crowd, the “Queers for Palestine” crowd, the same type of loonies as those who supported Khomeini and his thugs back in 1979. Their fate would ultimately be the same as those Leftists in Iran — executed in vast purges in the 1980s, led by the then head of the “Death Committee” Ebrahim Raisi, later president of Iran, and in 2024, the late President, killed in a helicopter "accident" in May 2024. 

Unlike Iraq, which had no leadership after the American invasion, Iran has the Shah’s family, his son,Reza Pahlavi, in the wings to take over. The Iranian monarchy is popular. They were modernists and  modernisers. Sure they had the hated Savak secret police, and sure they were awful.  But less awful than the Islamic theocracy. They too have their Savak, their own secret police. But they also publicly hang gays from cranes and beat women who don’t wear head coverings. The Middle East is “50 shades of Black”. Not goodies and baddies. There’s Bad and there’s Badder. And Baddest is the Ayatollas.

IOW, if Reza Pahlavi comes back, it’ll be one hell of a lot better for everyone in Iran, for the region and for the world. Immeasurably better. Even if not perfect.

Trump 100 days

A liberal friend, an anti-Trumper is telling me what chaos the first 100 days are. 

I say I don't agree. So, they say, what's he done that's good?

I start to answer, but am interrupted every minute. The animus, the hate, is strong. 

So, I'll say it here. With my score in [square brackets].

A summary of the summary is that Trump has moved at lightening speed with his program, that he set out in his campaign, that he's moved at historically rapid speed, but that the pushback has also been at historic levels, and with historic levels of Lawfare. 

TRUMP Administration [a solid B]

Controlling the Southern Border. [A+]

From 10,000 a day illegally coming through the border illegally under Biden-Harris, from all over the world, not just Mexico, because they'd heard "Biden has opened the border". And in they came, unvetted, unchecked. Trump measures brought that down to low single figures. 98.4% drop. That's a huge achievement, to his campaign promises. To an issue the public cared about by 80% to 20%.

It also gave immediate lie to the Kamala Harris line that "we can't do anything about the border, because it needs legislation and Trump doesn't support legislation". No, and no. Trump did it by Executive Order.

Deporting illegal immigrants [B]

Trump and his Border Czar Tom Homan have pushed hard on this. Main issue? Pushback from Dems and Dem-appointed courts, with unprecedented numbers of injunctions. Seems to be "Lawfare 2.0". 

Tariffs [Too early to tell]

"Tariffs be bad" say the People Who Know. Including me, with my Bachelor of Economics. The other side says "If tariffs are so bad, why do all the countries we're tariffing using them so widely?". 

It's shock tactics. To push for a reordering of global norms. Had the approach have been the traditional one, of "consultations" and "meetings", we know nothing would have happened. 

Still, too early, as I said here. Give it some time. Like three months or more. 

Economy [Too early to tell]

Same as with tariffs. Though worth noting: Stock market, which took a hit, is back to same level of September. No longer a "chaotic rout", iow. 

DOGE [B]

DOGE is all about getting rid of government waste, fraud and abuse. To reduce the budget deficit and the scary level of debt. 

Government waste, fraud and abuse is rampant. But has HUGGGGGe push back by the system and people on the streets, who kind of positioned themselves as for all the corruption. Shocking that the pushback includes violence against the head of DOGE, Elon Musk and his Tesla, by vandalism of Teslas, charging stations and showrooms. Not a one of the Dem leaders came out against this. 

DEI [A]

Getting rid of DEI is all about getting rid of racism. Which is what it is, no matter what the Left says. 

Trump gets an"A" for the effort. But a "B" only because pushback is defanging the move, a bit unfair, perhapsDeleted this for government and universities. A policy that is clearly racist by preferring certain races over others in employment and entry to school. 

Good and very popular moves to say that there are just two sexes, Male and Female, and that no males -- who believe they are women --  are allowed to participate in female sports. This is popular with 80% of the voters. 

Gaza [A]

Strong, unequivocal support for Israel to pursue the genocidal, jew-hating terrorist outfit of Hamas and Hezbollah. Replaces the dilatory, fickle support from the Biden government. 

I'm on-board for that. And not at all for the pro-Hamas, "Free Palestine", "from the River to the Sea" crowd. 

Russia-Ukraine [D]

A failure to get movement on this big promise of "I'll fix this in one day". 

At the very least the administration has brought the focus to: "if not peace, then what's the plan?". To which silence has been the stern response. 

Europe [B]

Unelected leader of the EU, Ursula von der Leyen has been hurt by Trump's hurty words. And threatened to go with Norway, Vietnam, Iceland (!), instead of the one country that has saved Europe in two world wars and established the post-war infrastructure for global prosperity. 

Veep JD Vance was right to criticise Europe for abandoning some cherished values of the west, in is speech at Munich. Even if European bureaucrats had hissy fits. 

Australia [D]

A "D" because there's nothing much "wrong" that Australia's done to the U.S.. While we've supported the U.S. in every war. Should have been more careful. 

If it does turn out that the Labor Party wins on this coming Saturday, a big factor would have been Trump. Malpractice by him, that makes no sense. 

Canada [D]

No need to be quite so trolling about the cold state to the north. They are very hurty about hurty words after all. For conservatives, this was Trump doing electoral malpractice. Or political malpractice. Why did he do it? We'll likely never know. 

If Trump hadn't happened, it would have been a major Conservative win. By 20+ points. But, you know, crazy took over. Shame. 

Greenland [B]

Before Trump, who thought about Greenland? Apart from me, who went there on a ski trip across the Island. But just look at it. Clear that it's a security issue, which China all sniffing all around the arctic. By pushing Greenland to front of mind, he's got Greenland protector Denmark to spend nearly $ 2 billion more on defence and to allow the United States a greater presence. 

Panama [B+]

Pushing China out of the canal -- which was built and funded by the U.S. - - is right. That's movement. 

DEMOCRATS [an "E" not for "effort"but for blind "resistance"]

Violence. Injunctions. "Resistance“ (a war term). "Hands Off". Lawfare 2.0. Sitting on the steps of Congress (Jeffries, Booker, today). Pointless 25-hour filibusters (Booker last week).  

All the Dems have done is to be reflexive. If Trump says it, they say the opposite. If Trump wants it, they don't. It's got to a crazy level where if the Trump administration wants to move on violent gangs, the Dems now love violent gangs. 

The saying goes now, "The Dems are on the wrong side of every 80/20 issue". If 80% of the country support something -- like no males in female sports --the Dems are all in to take the 20% side. 

That's where they are as I write this. With much angst and upset even within the Democratic Party about this. Not yet resolved.  

Deconstructing Jordan B Peterson

Remember Jordan Peterson? He shot to fame in 2016 when he refused to use "compelled pronouns" at the University of Toronto where he taught psychology. 

Jordan Peterson, a University of Toronto psychology professor, was not fired but faced significant controversy starting in September 2016 when he publicly refused to use gender-neutral pronouns like "they" or "ze" for transgender or non-binary students, citing concerns over compelled speech and Bill C-16, a Canadian law adding gender identity and expression to human rights protections. Link

Many of us followed him for that, though many of us also grew a little tired of his strained voice and tendency to go on... and on... and on... and... yawn.... Prolixity, thy name is Jordan. 

Still, he's prospered off the back of the notoriety of standing up to the Man. Standing up to a growing gender ideology movement, that then swept the western world, sweeps it still, only now -- perhaps --ebbing.

His YouTube channel has 8.7 million subscribers. For context only around 3,000 channels out of a total 114,000,000 YouTube channels have over 8 million subs, making him one of 0.0026% of accounts with that many followers. 

So he's doing well and his books do well. I'm sure his "12 Rules for Life", a bestseller, helped many people, especially young men, confused in a confusing age. 

Of all the Canadians on the world stage, apart from Justin Trudeau, it's Jordan Peterson who would have the best name recognition, even more than the new PM, Mark Carney, or the opposition leader Pierre Poilievre. The Toronto Star calls Jordan Peterson "Canada's biggest digital export". 

All this is to set the table for the challenge that came my way from an Occasional Reader, pointing to a clip of Peterson, saying a couple of things to which the Reader took offense:

...Peterson used phrases such as he’s told by [1] “very wealthy and very well connected people” that Carney is not good .. and he knew what’s going on in Trump’s inner circle because [2] “I have extensive contacts in DC which I have carefully developed in the last five years precisely for a moment like this, and they tell me what’s going on”…  it sounds like using an anecdotal nepotism to persuade followers .. I don’t think it’s a good look....

Now it may be that the clip left out context, in which case those statements might well come across as "anecdotal nepotism". 

I couldn't find the clip and only watched the whole piece of 1:26:00, which is linked here. 

Reference [1] “very wealthy and very well connected people”

In the full video of nearly 1.5 hours, it's clear that in the first case, Jordan Peterson is talking about the effect Mark Carney, as head of the Bank of England, had on the Stock Market, and hence on the feelings of the very wealthy, who are the ones most loaded up on equities. Moreover, it's not quite correct to say that they thought "Carney is not good'. As Peterson says, the rich "had a conscience as it turns out", because when Carney's QE policies at the Bank of England led to rapidly increasing stock prices after the 2008 crisis, they felt that there should have been more done for the not so wealthy, as well. Pangs of guilt, I guess.

In the latter case, "carefully developing contacts" is what one does. Whether you're a diplomat, or a politician, or a member of the media, or a major influencer on YouTube, like Peterson, what you do is precisely go around developing contacts. It's what I did when I was in the Australian Embassy in Peking then Shanghai and Hong Kong. It's what one does. I see nothing sinister in that, Occasional Reader, sorry.

I offer to Occasional Reader the chance to come back at me, and I'll post what he says in full, anonymously, if that's what he wants. Or not. 

I guess this is all a bit of a storm in a teacup. Then again, I do like a nice cuppa. 

The bigger issue here is what Jordan Peterson has to say about the new Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney and his chances against the opposition Conservative, Pierre Poilievre in the forthcoming election. This is important stuff, which Australians follow closely. Jordan Peterson, a major YouTuber and influencer, has worthwhile things to say about it. 

He talks of Trump as the elephant in the china shop, blundering around, putting all Canadians offside, and I agree with that. It does seem remarkably reckless. Then again, as Peterson says at the end, it may be that Trump would prefer to deal with a weak Liberal, than a strong Conservative. (Liberals in Canada being the Democrat equivalent and Conservatives the Republican equivalent).

Peterson goes over in detail in the video below, Mark Carney's Values, taken from Carney's book (timestamps below the fold). Peterson critiques Carney strongly, as do I. I didn't like Carney as PM from the outset, mainly because he's on the Net Zero train. In my view that's a recipe for disaster, for national impoverishment, that is being foolishly followed by the U.K., by Germany, by Canada, by New Zealand and by us in Australia. There's plenty of data and many experts that agree: Net Zero is unattainable, but the effort to get to Net Zero will crush economies. We may well become the first developed nations where the children end up poorer than their parents, all because of policy. Deliberately done, IOW.

Mark Carney in Canada or Chris Bowen in Oz may well have Good Intentions. 

But, remember, Good Intentions are what the Road to Hell is paved with.

Tesla Terrorism is terrorism porn

TBF, I've been shocked at first of all the level of violence, political violence, aka terrorism*, and second the enabling, the cheering on, of this from senior Democrats and high-flying members of the Left. Do they not see the dangers? That way lies anarchy, confusion, chaos. 

Off the top of my head, I can think of the following who have supported, cheered on, the vandalising of Tesla cars, of shooting up their showrooms, torching their charging stations, of confronting Tesla owners on the streets, threatening them, doxxing all Tesla owners in the country:

Chuck Schumer, Jasmine Crockett, Ilhan Omar, AOC, Bernie Sanders,  Bill Burr, Jimmy Kimmel, Tim Waltz, Michael Steele, Abby Phillip, Cory Booker, Rachel Maddow. 

That's a mix of politicians and news anchors. There are dozens of others that slip my mind for now, but that I've seen on the legacy media in recent weeks. And there are hundreds more on X. And thousands more morons in the audiences of the people above, like of Kimmel and Waltz, who laugh and clap along, like seals, idiotic things like Waltz praising the damage to a major, innovative American company. It's revolting. I''m revolted by their actions. 

An important aspect that all commenters like VDH above are missing, is the one identified by Andy Ngo, in his talk recently with Winston Marshall. i.e. the Trans Radical angle. Trans folk are disproportionately represented amongst the arrestees. Weird, weird. 

We have to keep remembering that these attacks are because they don't like that Elon Musk is leading a group in the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, which is looking at government waste, fraud and abuse. That's all he's doing. Something he was asked to do by Trump, which is something that Trump was elected on. And it's something that senior Democrats used to support as well. They've said in the past "we must tackle waster, fraud and abuse".  In those very words. People like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders. All said it. And are all now against it. They're only against it because it's Trump and his team doing it. 

Ok, so hypocrisy's one thing. We all do it; especially pollies. But to go to the next stage? To support terrorism? To attack American companies? Which employ hundreds of thousands of working Americans" Enough's enough. Supporting and encouraging terrorism is not on. At least should not be on. But there seems to be not a single Democrat (perhaps Ro Khanna aside), who will do the right thing and denounce terrorism.
