Hamas ARE Evil

The long war. Reflections on cease-fire in Gaza.

A long post below by Rod D. Martin.

A very good perspective.

I believe Hamas are evil. They kill and maim Israelis, Jews preferably. They also kill and brutalise their own people

Gaza could have been beautiful and rich. It was Hamas, and the people that voted for them, who turned Gaza into the tunnel-riddled charnel house it is today. Who use their own people as shields. Then blame the sword. It doesn’t wash.

Which is why no Arab state wants them. Not Egypt. Not Jordan. Not Syria. Not Lebanon. Nor even their patron death-cultists, the IRGC in Iran. Nobody in the Arab world wants them. Because as soon as they are in a new country they cause mayhem and butchery. No one wants that. Not even a majority Palestinian country like Jordan. Only in the west do we want them. At least a loony lot of us appear to want to invite them into our society. Including, incredibly, many in the LGBTQ community.

I have believed Hamas are evil since I first studied them in 2005. I saw that they followed the ideology of the Nazis. They made nazism even worse. They fused a millenarian, supremacist, misogynist, homophobic ideology to it. They throw in a Sky God who will drown you in virgin beauties if you die in pursuit of “killing Jews wherever you find them” (per the Hamas Charter). Killing Jews and Christians. And atheists like me, too.

Read the Koran. It’s all there. Read the Hamas Charter. This is its foundational and guiding document. Then read the Israel Declaration of Independence. I point out the clear differences in motivation

Prove me wrong.

Disclaimer: I don’t buy Martin’s “Trump as a 4-D chess player” narrative. I wish it were true. But I doubt it.

Back to Rod:

Some of you are telling me the Gaza deal can't last. You're not seeing the whole board.

There are two default assumptions at work here.

The first is that Islamist radicals can just spontaneously produce missiles, guns, and money from thin air. They can't.

The second is just general black pilling, which is frankly stupid. So you're demoralized: big whoop. You'd have been more demoralized in the summer of 1940, or for that matter of 1942. And you'd have been just as wrong. Get over yourself. Look at the facts.

Living in the age of delusions | Triggernometry

Peter Hitchens:

"Don’t vote for someone you want. Vote based on who you don’t want."

This strikes me as good advice. So often you don't like any candidate. Or you like one, except for this or that policy. Then it’s got to be “The lesser of two evils” voting.

Like the American 2024 presidential election. If you care about politics and where the country is going, you have to vote. It's binary. Both may be bad. But even then, one candidate will be "horrible", the other merely “bad".

Thus, you could vote for Trump in 2024, not so much because you like him. But because you judge Kamala Harris policies absurd — to the extent you could even fathom what her policies were through the fog of her "word salad". You really, roooly don't want her. So you have to vote for the other, in this case for Trump.

That's fine. And just about sums up my view of it. Like, I don't much like listening to Trump and his pabulum; or reading his offensive tweets. But I'm still glad it's him there and not Kamala. I judge his policies to be measurably better than hers. Hurty tweets don’t change that.

I don’t buy, I don’t understand, those who are politically-engaged, but who won’t vote in a binary election because neither side meets their high and noble expectations. That’s just a cop out.

Back to Peter Hitchens. Most of the talk above is not about what I just said. It’s about the U.K.. Mainly.

Hitchens recommends: Adam Tooze. The Deluge

Hitchens' books to read: The Abolition of Britain. And: The Phony Victory

Fun fact: in his youth Peter Hitchens was a Trotskyist. As was his more famous older brother, the late and much lamented Christopher Hitchens. Both lefties. Far-left lefties. Trots! Both became centre to conservative. They share this move with me. And with Thomas Sowell. Who was a Marxist until his thirties. Then was not Marxist. Asked why he abandoned Marxism, he answered: “Facts”.

"China quietly saved the world last month" | Max Fisher

The above vid dropped before the most recent increased hostilities. And the recent spike over $100 a barrel. It's had 3 million views to date.

But still, it's a fascinating outline of what's going on in the international oil market, and likely reasons.

Max Fisher, the presenter, now makes his living off The Bigger Picture, an Explainer-type vid. He's ex The New York Times, The Atlantic and the Washington Post, so you can make your own judgements of his priors.

I will say however, the above presentation comes across as based and neutral, even to me, a man of a certain bias.

I asked Grok to do a summary of Max's vid:

"We love death more than the Jews love life". Sam Harris on the essence of Islam.

Sam Harris talks to U.K. host Piers Morgan. In the video above by OtherBarak.

I've been a follower of Sam's for decades now. I've bought his books and followed his podcasts.

Then I had a falling out with him, mainly over his extreme TDS.

My obligatory throat clearing is that I'm far from a fan-boy of Trump. He's inconsistent, incoherent and inarticulate. Just better than a Kamala. That's all. While Sam's views on him have at times seemed deranged to me. Like when he said to the Triggernometry lads something like "I don't care if Hunter Biden has dead babies in his basement, that still doesn't disqualify Joe...".

But I always thought he was spot on with his critique of Islam. He's well-read on it. As am I. We agree on the basic thrust: that there are many, a large minority, probably a plurality of the 2 billion Muslims world wide who are "deranged" -- Sam's word -- by the doctrines of their faith. And, no, it's not "all religions are equal". It's not "all religions have problematic texts". It's not "Jews are just as bad". Or any of that nonsense. The problem of Jihad, of Islam, is "orders of magnitude" -- Sam's words -- worse in the Muslim world than they are in any other religion on the planet and specifically of Jews.

I wish defenders of Israel -- and I'm glad to see Sam is a staunch defender -- would more often quote the founding documents of both the Israeli state and of Hamas. The Israeli Declaration of Independence sets out their guiding principles, and the Charter of Hamas set out their guiding principles. They could not be more revealing, or more opposite.

The Israeli Declaration of Independence:
[Article 13] THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

[Article 16]. WE APPEAL - in the very midst of the onslaught launched against us now for months - to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions. [Here]

The Hamas Charter (Article 7):
Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it. (Preamble)
The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him." (Article 7)
Palestine is an Islamic land... Since this is the case, the Liberation of Palestine is an individual duty for every Muslim wherever he may be. (Article 13)
The Zionist project is a racist, aggressive, colonial and expansionist project based on seizing the properties of others; it is hostile to the Palestinian people and to their aspiration for freedom, liberation, return and self-determination. The Israeli entity is the plaything of the Zionist project and its base of aggression. (2017, Article iv).

Grok summary of Sam's points:

Sam Harris’ key points:
    • Hamas’s actions and widespread Muslim support are primarily driven by religious (jihadist/Islamist) ideology, not just politics or grievances.
    • Large numbers of Muslims worldwide are “powerfully deranged” by religious identity/symbols, prioritizing them even over their own children’s lives.
    • Gaza/West Bank schools (many UN-funded) teach young children the love of martyrdom and hatred of Jews, producing a culture of suicide bombers and child bombs.
    • Society accepts mocking other religions but not Islam, due to the risk of violent “psychopathic rage” over perceived insults to religious symbols.
    • Religious fanaticism exists among a tiny minority of ultra-Orthodox Jews/settlers (settlements are provocative), but it is orders of magnitude smaller; most Jews are secular.
    • Radicalization stems mainly from ideas of martyrdom and jihad that cross borders and recruit people with no personal grievances.
    • Israel is fighting a “suicidal death cult” that uses human shields, embeds among civilians, and sees its own civilian casualties as a PR advantage because believers expect paradise.
It's not a land war in Gaza. It's a religious war. Hamas doesn't want more land for "two states". It wants the annihilation of Israel, the killing and displacement of Jews, so that they can reoccupy "from the River to the Sea". And so does the Palestinian Authority. And so does Palestinian Islamic Jihad. They all do. All the countries surrounding Israel. The all want it.

And what's the west's reaction? On the Left it's to say: "Ok, let's recognise Palestine as a state". Which Australia has done. To its shame. Though at their current Labor Party Conference they seem to be proud of what they've done. I say: Shame.

Trump Bottles it

I agree with Jonathan Sacerdoti. And with others on the right who think this is a shocker of a “deal”. Because it is. It just is.

The MOU with the “religious maniacs” (Marco Rubio) in the Iran regime is not a “ceasefire” or some wonderful Donald Deal. It’s a shameful capitulation. It’s an embarrassment. It’s a shocker. It’s the end of Trump’s legacy.

That’s how bad it is. IMO. And yes, I have read the very few Republicans who praise it. But there’s nothing praiseworthy here. Trump has finally got some bipartisan agreement: it’s a shocker of a deal. An embarrassment. A failure. A loss.

Gloom…

Trump Capitulates | Dan Schueftan

Sad but true. There were signs of this tendency when he stopped Israel from crushing Hamas.

This “deal” may change. We can hope. But for now, it’s giving in to the crazies in Tehran. Capitulation. Appeasement.

World peace, regional peace, aside, this may he Trump’s worst legacy.

In Islam, a Hudna, a ceasefire, a cessation of hostilities, is only so Muslim forces can regroup and ready themselves for more attacks on the enemy.

No compromise Arabs

In 1917, the Balfour Declaration was written. The Arabs rejected it because they wanted all the land. They refused to accept any Jewish sovereignty on the land.

In 1920, the League of Nations gave Britain the official Mandate for the land that had belonged to the Ottoman Empire. The entire area was set aside as the Jewish homeland. This included what is today Israel (with Gaza, Samaria and Judea) and the whole of Jordan.

The Arabs rejected this too.

They wanted all the land and refused to accept any Jewish sovereignty.

In 1922, the Saudi Hashemite royals and other Arabs made a secret deal with Britain behind the Jews’ backs, and without the approval of the League of Nations.

Britain then carved out Transjordan and gave the entire area to the Arabs. This was 77% of the total land that had been promised as the Jewish homeland.

The Arabs happily accepted and took Transjordan, but they still rejected the remaining 23% for the Jews. They refused to accept any Jewish sovereignty on the land.

Now ask yourself this question:

If the Arabs were already given 77% of the land that was meant for the Jewish state, why are we still talking about carving up the last 23% and giving them even more?

When you see the truth, you understand who the real problem is, and why we will fight to keep the little land we have left.

Ukraine war update

Who’d a thunk?

February 2022 Russia attacked Ukraine. World Experts gave it a few weeks before Russia overran the country and occupied Kiev.

Not so fast, comrade! Said the Ukrainians. Now they’re world experts on drone warfare. In asymmetrical warfare. In how to pound the Russkies. In giving it to the Man….

Australia would do well to buy Ukrainian weapons off the shelf. Instead of reinventing the wheel. Especially buying from among their many and varied drones. Battle tested and proven. All available like something on Amazon. We seem set to invent our own at a cost of $20 million each. Another submarine-type debacle in the making. Sigh…

The Sun is clearly pro Kiev. Very well. So is Europe. And the United States. And Australia. And bien pensants everywhere. Fact remains: they do good and informative updates on the war.

As we watch.

AsUkraine takes back land from Russian occupiers. As it threatens to recapture Crimea!

Why I still support Israel

There are too few young Americans like Jacob Smith. Able to analyse and think for himself. And have the same conclusion as me. “He agrees with me! He must be right!”.

The conclusions being: that Israel has the right to exist; that it has the right to continue to exist; that it has the right to defend itself from genocidal attacks. That it has the right to stop a regional theocratic-tyranny from invading, occupying, bullying and converting “infidel” states throughout the world.

Jacob labels himself a “Christian Zionist”. I’m not, because I’m not Christian. I’m atheist. But still Zionist. So I identify as an “Atheist Zionist”.

Using  “Zionist” in an updated sense of the term. Not that Israel simply has a right to exist. Because that’s a done deal. Israel exists. Updated “Zionism”: Israel has the right to continue to exist. Against the surrounding Arab-Muslim states that seek its destruction. Which destruction, were it to happen, would be the first and only state to be liquidated since the founding of the United Nations.

From Smith’s Show Notes:

I'm a Christian American. I'm not Jewish. I have no personal stake in the Israel-Palestine conflict. And yet I've spent years debating anti-Zionists online, sitting across people whose mission is to delegitimize Israel and dehumanize the Jewish people — while receiving death threats daily across every platform I'm on. This video is my answer to the most common question I get: why do you even care?

My journey started on October 7th, 2023. I was in class when a Reuters notification came through about the Hamas attack. Within minutes I was watching people online cheer for it, spreading ahistorical narratives and anti-Zionist propaganda. I started responding. I haven't stopped.

The core of my argument is this: anti-Zionism is not a principled political position. It is a double standard applied exclusively to one people. If you scrutinize Israel's founding but not how the United United States was created, how Arab states were drawn up, or how any other nation in history was created, you don’t have a standard. You have a bias. And Israel’s independence is actually one of the most legally and morally defensible positions in modern history.

“Productivity is Exploding” | Yun-Ta Tsai

Yun-Ta Tsai is a Senior Engineer at Tesla.

He posts in English (mainly) and in Classical Chinese. A man after my own heart.

Here’s his thoughts on what’s going on right here in this world, right now. Even as wars and civilisational challenges surround us.

Attempted to write a Steam Engine hype at the era of Industrial Revolution as if it was the age of AI —

The steam engine breakthrough is insane right now.

Watt’s separate condenser + new GRPO optimization just dropped the 405 hp-class engine. We went from 7 hp → 70 hp → 405 hp+ in basically three years. One machine now does the work of 50+ men or water wheels — nonstop, rain or shine, anywhere.

Textile mills, ironworks, everything scaling 5-10x overnight. Productivity exploding.

This isn’t incremental. It’s automating physical labor at massive scale. Jobs shifting forever. Society about to look unrecognizable.

The Industrial Revolution isn’t coming. It’s here and accelerating faster than anyone predicted.

Terrified. Excited. Both.

What a time to be alive. 🚂💨

Next post about Yun-Ta will be a bit of Confucius.

America is winning. Russia is losing.

In the war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States is “losing.” In fact, the president may have already “lost” his “disastrous and irrational war” with the theocrats in Tehran. Trump is reportedly chastened by his failures, and the far-reaching consequences that America will suffer as a result of this epochal setback are only beginning to come into view.

At least, that’s what we’re hearing from the highest echelons of American public life. Yet, as military historian John Spencer recently observed, these are subjective appraisals. Wars are not won or lost in the comments section, and victors are not determined by vibes alone. Rather, they should be “judged through military capability, economic endurance, political cohesion, freedom of action, strategic leverage, and the ability to sustain power while degrading an opponent’s.”

I've followed John Spencer for a while now. He strikes me as very sound. West Point grad. The article above goes on to describe how the great power losing a war, right now, is Russia.

Let's tease out those 6 John Spencer factors and see how we think the United States is doing against them.

  • Military capability
  • Economic endurance
  • Political cohesion
  • Freedom of action
  • Strategic leverage
  • Ability to sustain power while degrading an opponent’s
I would give the U.S. full marks for all of these, except for "political cohesion".

IOW, America is winning. Russia, is losing in all six factors.

As for "Political cohesion" nothing this Trump administration can do will be fine with these Dems, so there's no cohesion there. But there is cohesion within the Republican party, which is around 85% in support of the war against the IRGC regime in Iran. That support has remained steady since the beginning.

Meantime what of the "political cohesion" on the Iranian side? We don't know. At least, I don't know. But the signs do seem to indicate: chaos. They've lost about three tiers of leadership. Imagine if your country lost all its top leaders. Then all the deputies. Then all the deputies' deputies.

So, comparatively, America wins on that criterion as well. America is winning in all 6 of the critical factors identified by Spencer. I say that's America winning. The only thing that can stop a final victory is misjudgement from Trump, or lack of patience from the American public.

Mushroom clouds over Jerusalem. The Tucker “imminent threat”

The wolf really is there.

So, No.

We cannot allow Iran’s “imminent nuclear threat” be a mushroom cloud over Jerusalem. Or Tel Aviv.

No matter how much the Jew-hating Hamas and Jew-hating Western Hamasnics may pine for it. To “liberate Palestine”. To “globalise the intifada”.

Emily Schrader of JNS TV explains why in the above vid. And how much Israel has done to stop Iran’s nuclear threat. A threat to the world, by the way, not just to Israel.

It’s not “crying wolf “. You see the wolf in a distant copse. It’s approaching. You fire warning shots and build defences. It keeps coming. You keep firing and defending. That’s why the wolf hasn’t arrived. Not because it’s not there. But because you kept it at bay. Then comes the day you must kill it. Which is where we are today.

Aid to Israel is not a thing

Emily destroys the furphy that a few billions a year in U.S. tied aid is somehow critical to Israel. It’s not. It’s been steadily reduced over the years, with no ill effect on Israel. Bibi Netanyahu has announced he will stop it entirely. Good.

Emily shows Tucker Carlson predicting this or that. I remember Carlson making wild predictions about all sorts of things, which turned out just as wildly wrong.
  • How Israel would collapse without U.S. aid.
  • Trump killing arch-terrorist Qasem Soleimani in 2020 was going to lead to regional war.
  • Trump’s “Midnight Hammer” operation in June 2025 was going to lead to World War III.
  • The “Epic Fury” operation would fail at the cost of tens of thousands of American lives.
None of Carlson’s perfervid imaginings is true. None is acknowledged. None apologised for.

Tucker Carlson is a foolish empty vessel. He is loud only because his very emptiness echoes and reverberates his delusions.

Why support this barbaric theocracy?

Kavya K asks “ How can anyone claim to care about women while supporting this barbaric theocracy?”

My answer:

  • Because the progressive Left hates Trump more than they love women.
  • Because they hate Trump more than they love freedom
  • Because they hate Trump more than they’ll defend the west against Islamist encroachment
  • Because they hate Trump more than allowing nuclear weapons to genocidal theocratic tyrants
  • Because they hate Trump more than any effort to crush terrorism in the world
  • Because they hate Trump more than they want to constrain the world’s largest supporter of international terrorism.

In short, Because they hate Trump more than anything

“Ifyou support Iran’s regime, you’re not anti-war.

You’re anti-woman.” Listen to Kavya K expose the massive hypocrisy of those who defend the Iranian regime.

She reveals the brutal truth: women in Iran have zero freedom. They are beaten, arrested, raped, and killed for daring to oppose the regime simply for wanting basic human rights.

This is not “resistance.” This is one of the most misogynistic regimes on Earth.

How can anyone claim to care about women while supporting this barbaric theocracy?

Hamas murders its own

Nick Freitas is an ex Green Beret, trained in all manner of close quarters, urban battle.

He explains Hamas’ strategy fighting Israel. Which has been very successful. But which we must see through. And be clear eyed about it. Otherwise we give terrorists a guaranteed way of defeating an army.

Alan Dershowitz calls it the “Dead Babies Strategy”. For Hamas, the more dead of their own civilians, the better. And we risk rewarding them for this strategy.

This war has revealed a bitter truth | Ahmed Khalifa

This war has revealed a bitter

truth for us Arabs & real Muslims

in the UAE & the Gulf:

Europe is no longer the Europe

we used to know.. The Europe of

beauty, culture, humanity & art

the one we looked up to, studied in

& learned so much from, is gone !

Now it feels like a third-world

country a refuge for failures

a safe haven for extremists

run by the Muslim Brotherhood

IRGC agents & every terrorist who

got kicked out of the Middle East!

Europe has sadly lost its identity.

Soon the the native European will

feel like strangers in their own land

watching their society get worse

& worse all with the blessing of their

own leaders!!

It’s a painful, pathetic joke..

I’m sorry, but I have to post this

warning (Video) again. It was from

10 years ago. I don’t know if it’ll make

any difference anymore, but I’m

sharing it for the fifth time anyway!

Israel controls America…

Not.

Jeremy Boreing touches many of the points I’ve made on this here blog. (Jeremy, fwiw, is Christian).

I’ve been asked by Occasional Readers why I still support Israel.

My answer: Because it’s still right. Because it’s still good. While Hamas is still wrong. Hamas is still bad. While Iran’s tyrannical theocracy is still wrong. Is still bad.

All the noise, all the constant repetition of hate on Jews and hate on Israel, doesn’t make it right. It’s just proof, yet again, of Joseph Goebells “Big Lie” theory. Tell a big lie. The bigger the better. And tell it often. People will believe it. And today, weirdly, the Big Lie is coming from both Left and Right. (The latter now called the Woke Reich).

Well, I don’t believe the Big Lie. Nor the one about Israel. And the Jews. Or about how Hamas are brave “resistance fighters”.

I still support Israel. Unequivocally. Staunchly.

For reasons I’ve often repeated here. Which Jeremy handily summarises for me.

Jeremy’s take down of Tucker Carlson’s ludicrous claim that America has “no strategic interest” in Israel is spot on. If Israel, if the Middle East is not strategically relevant, then the term has no meaning. Of course it’s relevant. Hugely so. Israel is very much the bulwark against a major victory for extremist Islam.

Jeeemy doesn’t mention the economic benefits to America and the world of israel. It’s inventions and investments. On the high tech NASDAQ index, for example, Israel has the third highest number of companies listed, after only China and America itself.

On a recent YouTube talk, Ambassador Mike Huckabee listed the number of Israeli-Jewish inventions that have benefitted mankind. Tell me a similar list from the Arab-Muslim world. Heh…

Here’s a list from AI:
•  Drip irrigation system
•  USB flash drive (Disk-on-Key)
•  PillCam (capsule endoscopy)
•  Waze navigation app
•  Israeli emergency bandage
•  Mobileye driver assistance system
•  ReWalk exoskeleton
•  Cherry tomato
•  Polio vaccine (Jonas Salk)
•  Ballpoint pen (László Bíró)
•  Oral contraceptive pill contributions
•  ICQ instant messaging
•  Firewall technology (initial versions)
•  Solar water heater advancements
•  Copaxone (multiple sclerosis treatment)

But, you know, “Jews be Bad”…

The new military superpower: Ukraine!

Ukraine is not just adapting to the new battlefield realities of robots, drones and AI. It's writing the text book.

So says military expert Philip Ingram. I've seen other similar vids recently. We're seeing something new in war and we're seeing it most focussed in Ukraine. In Iran too, of course, but most advanced in ukraine.

Who'da thought?

And all of a sudden, it's Ukraine that's on top. Russia is losing more men per day than it can recruit. 400 a day it’s losing. To drones and robots.

Ukraine’s 'drone wall', its “robot infantry” is rewriting the rules of modern warfare.

In this week's episode of Battle Plans Exposed, military expert Philip Ingram MBE reveals a staggering new statistic: drones were responsible for 96% of Russian losses in March.

From the surgical destruction of $25 million Tor-M2 air defence systems to the incineration of 'stolen grain' vessels in the Sea of Azov, the battlefield has become a 'panopticon' where Russian forces are constantly watched and relentlessly struck.

Deep Strikes: Ukrainian drones hitting Russian refineries and factories 1,000km behind the front lines.
Naval Shift: Swedish RBS 15 missiles and maritime drones making the Black Sea a "no-go zone" for Putin.

Saudi Arabia will attack Iran …

Click above for the Short. Prince Faisal in his perfect English accent

Saudi Arabia will attack Iran …

… if attacks against Saudi continue. But Iran “doesn’t want diplomacy” says Saudi Prince Faisal, above. “I’m doubtful they have the wisdom” to stop war and negotiate instead.

Arab nations are united against Iran. They support U.S. and Israeli actions against the Iranian regime.

As the Riyadh Statement shows. Not just Arab, but nearby Islamic nations as well.

The Prince Faisal Short, above.

Victory? | Michael Doran and Gadi Taub

Victory?

Of course not to the legions in the media, the Trump and Bibi haters worldwide.

Not to the “Gleeful Defeatists”. Whose personal hatreds of two men trump their support for the enlightenment values of the west. Who openly cheer for the victory of the worst tyrannical theocracy this century.

Michael Doran and Gadi Taub have been fair-minded yet hard-headed analysts from a right-of-centre perspective. If you want perspective from left-of-centre, you just need to go to any of the mainstream media. CNN will give it you. So will the BBC. And so will Australia’s ABC. And Democrats too, of course. Australia’s Labor government. All of Europe….

Mike and Gadi are fair: they read out a list of ways the pro-Iran-regime crowd claim IRGC has won. As well as the counter to that. Which amounts to a reckoning that we, the west, are much better off than we were on October 8th 2023. This will no doubt be mocked as being “major cope”. You watch.

But, yeah. A Victory on points.

There’s discussion of the moral dilemmas of asymmetric war. Where the enemy is perfectly willing to put its citizens in harm’s way, to kill them if they dare resist. Gadi mentions an Israeli analyst who says that if the enemy puts civilians in front of military targets, you must stop the war. Which of course will mean that the west can never win another war against terrorists. It’s the ultimate “terrorist veto”.

It’s what happened with the hostages in Gaza. One’s own military becomes hostage to the hostages. It’s a dilemma. Which some people, like Yishai Fleisher, argue against. And I support. Such are the exigencies of existential battles. Not “if they go low, we go high”. Uncomfortable, sure.

Me? On the issue of “ceasefire” I’m not at all keen, as  I wrote. So I remain firmly of the opinion of “hmmm…”. Which is, at best, “we”ll see”. What do I know? Nothing. “I know nothing…”.

Vince Dao, a young conservative commenter, makes some good points. He strikes me as pretty smart. Head screwed on. Why Iran regime is changed, whatever the current appearance.

ADDED: There are reports — unconfirmed— that China pressured Iran into agreeing to this ceasefire. This could make sense. End of the day what they want, what we all want, tbf, is a peaceful Middle East. Or at least one without an Islamist, terrorist, genocidal-suicidal, millenarian, regional-global bully.*

*ADDED (2): Grok answer to my query:
Yes, multiple credible reports confirm that China exerted pressure on Iran to accept a recent two-week ceasefire with the United States (and involving Israel), which was announced on April 8, 2026. The truce includes a pause in hostilities and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for safe passage. [More]
