Happy “Banned Books Week”

The week actually ended October 2. And, yes, it really is a thing and here’s their website.

I believe some of these books used to be banned because of activism on the Right, specifically the religious right. In recent years, however, the pressure to ban books has come more from the Left and specifically the authoritarian Left, the Woke Left. For whom books like these can be “triggering”,  believing that “words are violence”. (But then so is “silence”, so you can’t win).

How many of those above have you read?

I’ve read them all but one: “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne. But I feel I don’t need to read it. I just have to look at the latest Twitter pile on. “Cancelling” is today’s Scarlet Letter.
