Simon Brodkin spoofs footballers who resist calls for salary cuts

Comedian Simon Brodkin, aka the spoof Premier League footballer ‘Jason Bent’, mocks footballers who resist calls for modest salary reduction and clubs like Tottenham Hotspurs furlough non-playing staff and claim government money to cover wage bills. [Here on his FB page]
Here’s some simple arithmetic. The average EPL footballer salary is over $US 3 million per year. Each club has, what?, 30-odd players, say a salary bill of $100 million. Say 10% cut, $10 million. A nurse earns $20,000. So that saving would pay for 500 nurses! Or, surely, pay for all the club’s non-playing staff and more… while leaving the players (who are currently non playing), still as millionaires. Sick that they don’t and claim government money. Plain sick.
