We’ll meet again

Moving and beautifully nuanced speech by the Queen, only her fifth in her 68 year reign. There’s a clip in the middle of her in that 1940 broadcast (the first “podcast”?) to the nation’s children, and her hair style is the same as today. I’m a Republican in Australia, but a Monarchist in the UK.  Who would want to get rid of this wonderful woman, who will surely go down as one of the very best in Britains’s long history.
It led me to Vera Lynn’s “We’ll meet again”. A song of 1940 to the soldiers leaving to the front lines. We’ll meet again here in Blighty or at the Pearly Gates.
And how delighted, surprised was I to discover, when I Wiki’d her, that the first thing to pop us was “Vera Lynn is...”. “IS? Not “was”? She was born in 1917 and IS still with us, at 103.  How wonderful.
And, not only that...
Today, as in today, she released a duet with the Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins and she sounds gorgeous.
