Covid-19 virus update, 13 April

World Figures down a bit. Cross fingers. HK Total = 1005 New = 4.
Jing at Moofish

A bike ride last evening through the park to North Plaza, for a meal at Moofish (“Meat and seafood”), and looking pretty normal, pretty full, with Joe walking around with tape measure keeping people the correct two metres apart, which is checked by an official from the Food and Hygiene department. It’s beautiful weather, 22 degrees low humidity. In a normal year we’d be at the pool.

Listening to “The Frederica Quartet” by AS Byatt. Radio 4 Extra. There’s a divorce hearing in court. Contested. It’s the sixties. Before no-fault divorce laws. It sounds crazy now to contest in front of a male judge. Two sides of a married life contested in public. That’s just after a wonderful reading of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”.  I do love this 4 Extra.

Italy: lowest daily deaths for three weeks as Hong Kong also down
Are ventilators doing more harm than good? Something like 80% don’t come off them alive.
As I said on 29 March: ‘China can’t win’. Alex Lo spells it out. It has indeed been a farrago of hypocrisy, even if some of them just don’t see their double standards.
