Covid-19 virus update, 8 April

My spreadsheet from figures at Worldometer
Damn virus! Numbers spike up again… HK total = 936. New = 21

Listening to Gore Vidal’s “Death in the Fifth Position” being read by Jamie Parker on BBC Radio 4 Extra. And now it’s “Cosmic Quest” with astronomer Heather Couper telling us the importance of the Sun to ancient societies (Sun as in Sol, our nearest star, not the newspaper). When the Sun was thought to be part of the earth. Did they get viruses? Did they lockdown? Is the Sun any less important to us today? Doesn’t the Sun kill viruses?

Boris remains in Intensive Care and is “stable”. Using Oxygen but not a ventilator.

Record US deaths as Trump lashes WHO. Quite right because, amongst other wrong advice:

Of masks and masking: when I first posted about coronavirus in January 24, I quoted expert advice from WHO that you didn’t need to wear a mask if you didn’t have the virus.  Now they say masks are “helpful”. Here is the obvious and horrible conclusion: if masks do save lives now, then not wearing them earlier obviously cost lives. In short, WHO mis-advice cost lives. Its “expert advice” cost lives.
