The UN Human Rights Commission: They’ve gone at Elon Musk to tell him he has to make sure he “adheres to human rights principles” when he fires his employees from Twitter.
Couple of things:
1. I doubt any other company has ever been got at by the “Human Rights” commission in handling its HR. Just Musk because they don’t like what he’s doing to Twitter.
2. Twitter employees are some of the most mollycoddled in a mollycoddled Silicon Valley. And when they’re retrenched, they’re going with three months salary.
3. A bit of Tu Quoque: The HRC has decided not to enquire further on the treatment of over 1 million Uygurs held in camps in Xinjiang. That would mean confronting China. Heaven forfend! But Musk and his 2,500 employees? to be let go with massive packages? go for it! Hypocrisy of the first water. The UN’s specialty.
