People in the Left are in more of a bubble than those on the Right (Gallup Poll) |
“Democracy is on the ballot”. That. And racism. That’s the latest Dem scary talking point. And why you should vote for them.
But neither lands. You can believe “democracy is in the ballot” if you believe that voting Republican will lead to loss of democracy. And you can believe that only if you think January 6 really was an insurgency and that “election deniers” will be in office. And you can believe those propositions only if you are in a liberal media bubble that repeats them to you. But January 6 was not an insurgence. Or if it was, it was the most incompetent ever; a bunch of loonies in bison hats. If that scares you, I’d say grow a pair, but won’t coz it’s rude. And “election deniers” are those that wanted due diligence. In any case why should Republicans and independent voters be lectured on “election denial” by those that have practiced it themselves since 2016. This is “whataboutism” for sure, but needed, to call out rampant hypocrisy. The hypocrisy of Hillary saying from 2016 right up to the other day, that Trump was “illegitimate”. Or Stacy Abrams saying from then to now that she was the real winner of Georgia, when she lost by 50,000 votes.
As for racism, I follow right wing media as well as the left (ie mainstream media) and I can’t think of any that’s racist. Fact is, most people in the US, right or left, are not racist. Of course there are racist nutters in both ends, but most folks are not. Today the New York Times ran a story about a Republican candidate “playing the racist card” when all he was doing was telling a story of how some town folks helped a truck driver who happened to be African American. It was supposed to be a feel-good story but got twisted, deliberately or otherwise.
So now awaiting results of the November 8 midterms, to see if any of that narrative has worked. I think not. But let’s see…
