During the COVID-19 pandemic, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was criticized and pressured by federal officials, such as President Joe Biden and public health czar Anthony Fauci, to back draconian restrictions. Now, criticism is coming from the opposite direction: Former President Donald Trump claims DeSantis's policies were too severe, and that "Florida was closed for a long period of time." I followed what was happening in Florida in real time, at the time, and it was obvious that it was performing at pretty much the average, even though it had much less stringent anti-covid measures, like lockdowns, masking, mandates, and so on.
The commenters have gone crazy. They can’t stand that someone is setting out the facts of the case -- as opposed to the likes of the New York Times, at the time, which did everything it could to throw shade on De Santis. Oh well....
