So far it’s this: that the reason Yes lost is because Australians are (a) racist and (b) stupid. Neither it true, but that’ll be their narrative. In fact, to the extent that there was racism in the campaign, by my observation it was almost all from the Yes people to the No people. Senior Yes people, like Marcia Langton and Noel Pearson openly called the No people racist. And stupid. No-one in the leadership of the No campaign did the same.
Have a read of the article above. It strikes me as half ad hominem and half off on other topics, but held in high regard by some folks on X, with the imprecation: “ABC: please note!”. Referring to the Oz ABC. They think the ABC could have gone harder “yes”, even though to my experience they made their pro-yes view all too clear.
“Misinformation”? That Asian students might have to fight even harder to get places if Voice had gone ahead? Pretty likely given the Voice would be calling for Affirmative Action and we saw what that did to the US.
That with a No vote there might be reduction in Muslim immigration? Not sure of the link there, but given Hamas-supporting call to “gas the jews” on the steps of the Opera House, should that not be an option?
The problem with the Left -- or one of its problems -- is that it “our way or you’re a bigot”. It’s our way or you’re a racist. Sick of it.
