“Bernard Chan should have fought for park idea” | My Take

LETTER TO SCMP
I don't always agree with Alex Lo's Take, let alone two days in a row!
Yesterday he tackled the Uber fiasco, with the government buckling to thugs in the taxi industry. (Taxi trade takes wrong Uber route again https://sc.mp/w757pc).
I'm just back from Australia where Uber and other Rideshares operate legally. Prices for taxi medallions have crashed, but the industry survives and all Aussies are better off for the competition. The taxi industry itself is better off as the cost of entry has dropped. And apart from benefits to customers, Rideshare services provide flexible employment for folks from all walks of life.
Get with it, Carrie! Legalise Rideshare.
Taxi Thugs
And today Lo tackles "that" golf course at Fanling. For the sake of just a few apartments the government will destroy our invaluable cultural heritage.  I agree with Bernard Chan (quoted by Alex) that if the government doesn't want to an allegedly "elitist" golf course, it should turn it into a public park. That is surely better, in a city choking for lack of greenery. To destroy Fanling Greens for the sake of "showing determination", and pouring concrete for pitifully few flats is the irresponsible act of philistines. In future it will likely be viewed as criminal.
Carrie Lam: please stop it!
Well done to Alex Lo and the many correspondents who have written on these issues to make the government see sense.
