Young Si Jiahui (20) got to the semi-final four in the World Snooker championship. He only just didn’t make it into the final, pipped 17-16 by the Belgian Marc Brecel.
Same day, yesterday, Ding Liren won the World Chess Championship in dramatic fashion against Russian Grand Master Ian Nepomniachtchi. Ding was never in front. Only just evened the match in the 12th of fourteen games, then it went into a Rapid Chess tie-break of four games, which Ding won (only just) in the end game of the last game, to take it 14.5 to 13.5. A match for the ages.
