But it remains part of the fundamental nature of Islam. It’s in Sharia Law.* To beat one's wife. To suppress one's children. To fight unbelievers. And to kill jews.

Note that none of this is denied in the Muslim world. They're quite happy, indeed proud, to admit to their beating of women. Just as they are happy to admit to their hatred of Jews, to their wish, their hope, their highest honour, to kill as many Jews as they can. This is foundational stuff and is not at all in question.
What is in Question is why does the Left in the West support this? Why do we think that this horrid ideology is something we ought to justify and to celebrate? That we ought to bring into our societies ever more of these very same people who hate us, who hate our values, and who seek to bring Sharia-compliant wife beating into our homes?
Why, dear Lord?

“If she commits rebelliousness, he keeps from sleeping with her without words, and may hit her, but not in a way that injures her, meaning he may not break bones, wound her or cause blood to flow.” (m10.12). [Ref]
Apologists for Islam will say — I’ve seen and heard them say it — “look how tolerant and caring this is! There should be no breaking of bones or causing blood to flow! Marvel at the compassion in Islam!” Such is the twisting of minds, the perversion of basic humanity, that is a feature of all cults. If there was ever a cult, the G of them all is Islam.
