New Nest

Our Bulbuls' nest in our mango tree
Includes bits of Basil’s fur.
Last time we had a Bulbul nest in our mango tree, they laid a number of eggs, then a few days later they were gone. We suspected either snakes or cats. I’ve looked them up, and either is capable.
So this time we added a Cat-Snake Cone, made by Arlene out of an old umbrella.

UPDATE (10/5/20):  Robert Ferguson of WildcreaturesHK says:
That is very smart…and im sure they are appreciative. More likely culprit is perhaps a larger bird….like the red-billed blue magpie that often raid nests.
You may need other protection I am afraid…
So we’re thinking.
